Playtime on Tuesday

Mommies, this Tuesday November 13 we get to play at Arctic Oasis! Marci is sponsoring us to get on the base, so meet at the Elmendorf Boniface gate at 10:30 AM. You will need your driver's license, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. Bring a sack lunch or you can buy lunch at the cafe there (pizza, hot dogs, burgers. etc). The next Tuesday we'll be back in the Fellowship Hall working on Week 4 of the Philippians study.

Jochabed (Anna) and Noah (Elijah) at Awana Bible Heroes Night.

Fun fun fun

but probably not in the sun.... Okay, yes I have little ones and sound too much like Dr. Seuss. The next two Tuesdays have FUN built right in them. This week, Tuesday October 23, we'll be at Rachel's house for fellowship (that's mean yakking and kids playing and snacks, always yummy ones too). The next week, October 30, is Craft Day in the Fellowship Hall. I talked to the babysitters about coming and watching kiddos, so the moms will have free hands and minds to work on crafts. I'll be bringing my sewing machine, others will probably bring scrapbooking/cardmaking/etc, though just sitting and drinking a hot beverage and visiting is just as welcome if you're not feeling particularly crafty. =)

For October 9

Since we all have little ones and husbands, I thought it would be helpful to learn about haircutting. Chris S. will come and give a demonstration with my little guy and possibly other volunteers. We're meeting in the Fellowship Hall at 10 AM. If you'd like to bring a snack, that would be great! Thanks for the great study and discussion today, and thanks to Nancy for starting us out right. =) October 16 is our next study meeting, so work on Week 2 of the Philippians study. If anyone is reading this that would like to join, it's not too late! Just send me an email and we'll get you a book.

Our Last Park Day - Carlson Park

Hi mommies, the rain looks like it's holding off today, so let's go play! Carlson Park directions - New Seward to 36th Ave. Left on Lake Otis. Left on Cornell, just across from Wendler Junior High. Park your car on the street. Access to Carlson Park is on a pathway between some of the houses. This is the park that we played at when the Russian missionary was visiting, there's a stocked lake at the park along with a sandy playground and big grassy field.

Next week is our official fall start! We have at least 2 babysitters lined up, but if anyone has leads on more, that would be great. We'll be starting at 10:00 AM, bring a brunchy item and $8 to pay for the study book.

Rachel's Input

Here's the email Rachel sent out today.

Hello Girls,
We have decided on a Fall Study, but we are a little
slow in getting it ready to go. So, we are going to
continue meeting at Parks for the next two weeks and
start Bible Study on September 18th.
Sept. 4 - Elderberry Park, 10:30 am
Sept. 11 - Carlson Park, 10:30 am
Sept. 18th - Bible Study Kick-Off @ Chapel, 10 am
**Bring a brunchy item and $8 to pay for "That I May
Know Him" a Kay Arthur study of Philippians &
Colossians.
We have some good leads on Babysitters, but if you
hear of someone who'd like to do it, or know of
someone we could call, let myself of Ruth know.
Thanks everyone!
Rachel Gates

This Fall

Rachel will soon be ordering the study for this fall, we'll be doing a Kay Arthur book study. She's planning on ordering a dozen books, so there should be enough for us all. Until they arrive, we'll probably do some more park days. Once the study starts, we'll meet the first and third Tuesday of each month for study, and second & fourth Tuesday for fun/playtime/etc. We may have a few sitters lined up, but go ahead and do some recruiting if you want!

Tuesday Aug 28

All right, mommies, there are two options for this Tuesday.

1) Whisper Faith Park 10:30 It's on Lore Rd west of Lake Otis Parkway, I think between OMalley and Dimond.....

2) The Fair!!! I just got back from being there today, so don't expect to see me there on Tuesday, but some of the other moms are headed there for $2 Tuesday. If you get the the gates between 10AM and noon, it's only $2 admission. Most of our kiddos are under the free admittance anyhow, but for the moms it's a pretty good savings. Rachel will have her cell phone if you want to meet up with her at the fair, if you need the number just give me a call @ 677-1464. Okay, so here's some shameless plugging of my own blog, I'll be posting some pictures of my kiddos from the fair today.

Par-tay time!

We're not going to the park today. It's wet, rainy-ish, and all around not a very fun place for a birthday party. Soooo, we'll be at the church for Elijah's 4th birthday party. See you there!

Friday Outing Changed

Friday, August 3rd we will be hiking the Hillside Trails, not traveling to the Eagle River Nature Center. Meet in the Hillside Trail parking lot, located off Abbot Rd., around 10:30 am. We'll hike to the river, throw rocks, and picnic. See you there!

July 27 - Friday's Adventure

We're headed to Girdwood! Meet at the Chapel parking lot at 10 AM to carpool/caravan there. We'll go to the park (fantastic playground!), stroll the wonderful wide path across the bridge, and picnic/play at the park. Bring $$ for ice cream or cinnamon roll at the Bake Shop. We'll go to Girdwood whether or not it's raining, 'cause we can always just get ice cream!! =)

Show Me the Money

Okay Ladies, this is your last chance to contribute money to our "show the babysitters how grateful we are" fund. Get your money to me by August 1st (I know us Alaskans hate deadlines in the summer, but I'm desperate)! We will be having to ask them to babysit again in the Fall, and I want our generous contributions to be fresh in their minds! Give it to me in Girdwood, at Church, drop it by my house, mail it to me, wire it, transfer it, whatever.

Also, if anyone would like to donate beautifully handmade thank-you cards (ahem...Kristine? Marci?) to put the money in that would be much appreciated!

Tuesday the 24th Revision

We're going to the Loussac Library! Yep, it's raining, but think of all the great literature we'll find. Meet either at the coffee shop or the children's section.

Tuesday July 24th Park Play

We're planning on meeting at Trailside Elementary, located on Abbot Road between Abbott Loop and Birch Road, across from the Evangelical Free Church. Supposedly there are some toddler swings too! The weather forecast calls for overcast skies, but not rain. Call Rachel or Kristine if it's raining to see what the plan is for the alternate "rain spot" destination.

This Friday's Adventure is...

Euklutna Lake! Meet at the Northway Carrs parking lot at 10:30 AM (note-this is half hour later than originally scheduled). We'll carpool/caravan to the Lake to picnic, hike, and play. There is a parking fee, I think $5.

Fall Study

I'm soliciting ideas for the study for this fall. Nancy has a book she's reading, and if anyone has any other books/ideas/thoughts for the fall, post a comment.

The First Post

Hey other mommies,

I started this blog to help us all out. Instead of trying to call each other or email, we can post to the blog "hey looks rainy, instead of playing at the park let's go to the fellowship hall" or wherever. My personal policy is to try to avoid saying city/state or last names; even though this blog is not publicly available (you have to know the address to find it) I still don't like to fact that "maybe" someone could find it and then know all about us. If you want to be able to post to the blog, let me know and I'll send you an email invite to join up.

So, anyone recognize these little faces? It's a picture I took last May.... Oh how time flies.
